God's Great Mission
This week I have been thinking about God's Ultimate Purpose. I believe we find that purpose in Revelation 7:9-10. "After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no-one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb." God's ultimate purpose is to gather together a community of people from every corner of the world who would bring Him glory and enjoy Him forever. The really amazing part is that God has chosen to use the church to accomplish this purpose. As the church, we are called to bring Him glory, share the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ, nurture believers in the faith and extend God's mercy to our neighbors here and across the world. In fulfilling these purposes, the church will accomplish God's Ultimate purpose. God will be glorified. A community from every nation and time will bring glory to God and enjoy Him forever. The question that remains is, what part will we play in God's great mission? My hope is that one day as we stand before Christ we will hear him say "Well done, thou good and faithful servant" In the mean time, let all that we do and say be for the glory of His name.
