What A Privilege!

Can you imagine what it must have been like for Adam and Eve to stand outside the garden looking at the Angel with flaming sword drawn guarding the entrance. [Genesis 3:24] Because of their sin, they now where banished from God's presence. All the blessings of the garden were gone. No longer would they have the joy of walking and talking with God. Yet, even in the midst of judgement God had given hope when spoke of the woman's offspring who would crush the head of the serpent. Thousands of years later a baby born in Bethlehem as the Son of God would take our sin to the cross with him offering us forgiveness and hope. No longer would man be standing on the outside looking in. No we, the Church, have access once again to the very presence of God. The writer to the Hebrews speaks of this great privilege in Hebrews 10:19-25

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body,21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God,22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds.25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

What a privilege! You and I as believers in Jesus Christ have the right and the blessing to enter into the holy of holies. We can enter into God's presence without fear. We are a holy nation, a royal priesthood, a chosen people. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. You are a child of the king. And that is a great privilege!
