I wonder often why God would choose to use me to change the world? I am a sinner who is unworthy. Surely God could have found someone better. Yet he did choose me. And he has chosen you. Why? You are not worthy either? When Jesus told Peter to let down the nets, Peter wondered why. But after a record catch, Peter recognized something. This Jesus who was with him in the boat was different. In fact he was God himself. In the reflection of Jesus' holiness Peter saw his own sin. Peter recognized his own shortcomings. Peter understood that he could never measure up. And in that very moment Peter became worthy of his calling to be a fisher of men. That worthiness had nothin to do with Peter and everything to do with Jesus who called him. I am not worthy, But Jesus has called me so I serve as a fisher of men. Let's serve together as men and women who are not worthy but are called by Jesus to change our world.
Luke 5:8 When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, "Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!"9 For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, 10 and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, "Don’t be afraid; from now on you will catch men." 11 So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.
