What is it about Faith, Hope, and Love that is so irresistible? In 1 Thessalonians Paul tells us about the church in Thessalonica. Paul, Silas and Timothy had spent only three weeks in the city before a riot forced them to move on to Berea. But in that short time many had accepted the good news of salvation in Jesus. These new believers followed Christ in spite of intense persecution. Paul tells us that they were a model to believers throughout their region. They impacted others as they faithfully followed Christ. In fact, they had been so influential that wherever Paul went he heard stories of their faith. They key to this influence is found in 1 Thessalonians 1:3.
We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Their authentic faith worked, their true love sacrificially served others and their hope in Christ created patient endurance in trials. What would Paul write about us? What would he write about me?
