Sojourn

The following comes from the Challenge 2008 Blog

Sojourn: "To stay as a temporary resident; to dwell for a time"

Every one of us is on a journey, making our way from our beginning to eternity. For some it seems that the best times are always ahead of us, just around the corner and just out of reach. Like cars speeding through a dark tunnel, we are focused only on what is ahead. We are always looking for the next best thing. But what if we were to stop and look around, to sojourn; we may just realize that the next best thing is right here. . .right now. . .right in front of us.

God has planned the journey of our lives to be more than just a beginning and an end, but to include every joy-filled temporary stop along the way: The sojourns. A sojourn is noticing where God is at work around you and joining him there; it involves being loved and loving others, being served by Christ and serving others. When we sojourn we may encounter sacrifice and suffering, but we will encounter the One who has planned our journey and who has promised to be with us every step and every stop along the way.
