(The Gospel) "is that in Christ though you are more wicked than you ever imagined, you are more loved and accepted than you ever dared hope"
Timothy Keller Paul's Letter to the Galatians: Living in Line With the Truth Redeemer Presbyterian Church 2003
This Sunday we looked at the story of Jesus meeting the woman at the well. Here was a woman who spent her adult life searching for happiness and satisfaction. She had gone through five husbands and was now living with a sixth guy all in a desperate search for love. It is only when Jesus steps outside of cultural norms to offer her living water that she can find the love she so desperately wanted. Here was a Jewish Rabbi who could condemn her to death, that instead offered living water and then later went to a cross so that he could give her the living water of Life. Jesus still offers the Living water to all who would humbly accept the offer by faith. I am more wicked than I imagine, yet Christ loves me more than I could ever dare hope.
Next Sunday we will watch as Jesus changes the life of a wee little man.
