As you probably know, I am a Philadelphia Eagles fan. This past Monday night was a big night. The Eagles were playing the Cowboys in Texas. Now, you may not know it but this is one of the great rivalries in the NFL. All the way through, it was close. It was a great game up until the very end when the unthinkable happened. My Eagles lost. However, what makes this game remarkable was not the final score but one very dumb play by Eagles rookie DeSean Jackson. He is going to be one of the great receivers in the game if he can change his attitude. DeSean came to the Eagles with a problem. You see, DeSean seems to play for himself. In the following video you can see him chuck the ball before scoring on a long pass from Donovan Mcnabb. DeSean was more concerned with his post touchdown dance than he was with actually scoring the touchdown. Before we criticize him too much I wonder how often we do the same thing. We are so concerned with what others are thinking that we forget to honor Christ with our lives. Like the Pharisees of Jesus' day, the praise of men means more to us than the glory of God. God has thrown us the ball. Lets cross the finish line for the glory of God and forget about the praise of men.
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. Romans 12:3
