Forgiveness Is Easy

This week I have been studying the story of Joseph's reunion with his brothers.  They wanted him dead but decided to sell him into slavery instead.  Because of their actions he spent years as a slave and prisoner in Egypt.  When given the chance he easily could have had them killed, imprisoned or forced into slavery.  Yet, he chose, after revealing their evil to forgive them and then to bless them with good land.  By faith, he trusted God to work out his perfect plan rather than to get revenge.   They key lies in Genesis 50:20

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

No, forgiveness is not easy.  But it is necessary and is possible when we recognize that all things are in the hands of our God who loves us and is good all the time.
