Still Seeking Him

Did you have a great Christmas?   What a joy it has been to celebrate the birth of the Savior.  Over the last month we have focused on the Word that became flesh to save us from our Sins.  Soon after the birth Jesus, Joseph moved his family into a house in Bethlehem.  At some point after that Wise men came seeking him.  After inquiring in Jerusalem where they expected the baby to be in the king's palace, they found him in a humble home.  It was there that they presented their gifts of Gold, Incense, and Myrrh.  Are you seeking Jesus?   Have you given him gifts worthy of a king?  The gift he desires is both inexpensive and invaluable.  It can't be found at the mall or at Walmart.  Jesus desires nothing less from us than our very lives.  Paul says that we are to offer our bodies as living sacrifices.

Our nation is in the midst of turmoil.  We are fighting two wars and our nations banks are collapsing.  Often we seek security in family or friends, in our bank accounts, or jobs, or land.  The last several months has shown that none of these things can bring us security.  It is only in the Word made flesh that we find secure ground that can not fail.    Where ever you are with Jesus today, let me encourage you to seek him.   Perhaps, he is your savior.  Use this next year to seek him with all your heart, drawing closer to him with each passing moment.  Maybe, you have resisted him.   Seek him and find that he loves you more than you can imagine.  Let this be the year that you find peace in the baby born in Bethlehem.

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will accept. When you think of what he has done for you, is this too much to ask?  Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.
