Challenge Day 3

Day 3 was amazing.  We began the morning hearing from DA Horton.  DA pastors a church in urban Kansas City and teaches theology through the medium of Hip Hop.  Our kids found DA to be very challenging.  His style is vastly different from anyone they had ever heard.  He challenged us to be pure in heart.  The word of God is the lens through which we can see the impurity in our hearts and lives.   On Wednesday afternoon we traveled to a local Baptist church.  We spent a few hours cleaning, painting and washing the church and several vehicles.  Some even built a covered wagon for a VBS prop.  Then we had the opportunity to play with about 120 kids who attend a day care center at the church.  Last night we heard from Geoff Safford again.  He challenged us to be meek.  Meekness is defined as strength and power of the control of God.  He said it is like the power of a race horse under the direction of the Jockey.  He showed us meekness through the examples of David, Moses and Daniel.  Finally he spoke of the meekness of our savior who could have destroyed all the guards and come down from the cross but who for our sakes became the lamb who was slain.  He challenged us to serve God with all that we are and to never ever give up using the talents and abilities God has given us to change our world.  We are called to live everyday on this earth on Mission for Christ.  We are all getting a bit tired but know that God has more to teach us.  Thanks for praying for us.  You can hear all the messages HERE
